PowerVIZ Overview

Easy and Versatile Analysis of PowerFLOW Results

PowerVIZ is the high-performance visualization and analysis application used for processing simulation results from PowerFLOW and spectral analysis results from PowerSPECTRUM. It provides a wide variety of tools to perform detailed analyses, a fast, intuitive, and interactive user interface, and the ability to quickly process even the largest data sets. Different visualization techniques can easily be combined within the same image to explore your simulation data as never before . PowerVIZ can also be scripted, making even the most detailed analysis a push-button operation.

 Features/Benefits/Highlights:

  • Super High Performance: Interactive and intuitive handling of large data sets
  • Scriptable: Create scripts to automate standard visualization and analysis practices, or use standard scripts provided by other users
  • Quantitative and Qualitative: Compute specific, meaningful quantities such as net force and mass flux, or show detailed images to illustrate complex flow features
  • Flexible: Dozens of analysis techniques for nearly any need; powerful, simple mechanism for deriving any desired quantity from existing quantities

Visualization Techniques:

  • Key frame animation
  • User-defined variables via full featured equations language
  • Synchronized processing of multiple data sets
  • Import arbitrary surfaces to measure flux through complex openings
  • Locate property extremes in flow field
  • Graphs of a variable along an arbitrary line
  • Vortex core detection
  • Slice planes with contours, flooded contours, 2D streamlines and vector display options
  • Soiling analysis; tracing of particles with mass
  • 3D streamlines with line, ribbon, 3D arrow and animated 3D arrow options
  • Isosurfaces, optionally colored by fluid property values
  • Direct reporting of numerical data and 2D graphs
  • Time graphs of integral and average property values

 Visualization Techniques for Surface Data:

  • Surface contours
  • Force development graphs: integrated force along a user-defined line segment
  • Torque calculations; simple front/rear axle lift coefficient calculation
  • Color coding of surface geometry by surface data
  • Surface particle tracing (streamlines)
  • 2D graphs of surface scalar values

Scripting:

PowerVIZ supports full scripting of all features via extensions to the Python language. Scripts can be recorded as the user performs actions in the GUI. Scripts and used to:

  • Automate standard analysis sequences
  • Recreate a standard analysis setup
  • Generate animations & movies
